Review: Cathay Pacific Business Class BKK-HKG

Cathay Pacific 702
Bangkok (BKK) – Hong Kong (HKG)
Depart: 1910hr
Arrive: 2250hr
Duration: 2hr40min
Aircraft: Boeing 777
Seat: 11A (Business Class)

I quite like this segment using Cathay Pacific Β from BKK to HKG. The flight time was under 3 hours and I used just 30 000 Avios + Β£11 in tax for a business class seat. Why was I so excited about this? It was because for this short journey, Cathay Pacific is using a reverse-herringbone Business Class seats, the best seats in the business.

Check-in was straight forward and the agent gave me an invitation card to use at the Cathay Pacific Lounge at BKK airport (more of that to come). I used the lounge for about 2 hours and then went straight to the gate. Boarding was about 45mins before departure time.

Upon boarding, I was greeted by the in-flight supervisor and she showed me my seat. She also acknowledged my Emerald oneworld status and welcomed me back. The reverse- herringbone seats meant that everyone has an aisle access in a 1-2-1 configuration. I was impressed with the product, whilst some other airlines are trying to squeeze in a 2-3-2 configuration to my horror!

Plenty of storage space

What I like about it is the amount of storage spaces provided. There was a space to store your shoes and few other storage spaces scattered around your seats. The amount of personal space was impressive.

What impressed me the most was the fact that the amount of privacy you get without being closed-in. I felt like I was cocooned in this mini cabin with all the mod-cons within my reach. I was given a hot towel and a pre departure drink together with a menu.

The dinner service was served about an hour after take off. The starter was delicious and to be honest, I could have asked for a second helping. I did not have the mains because I ate at the Cathay Pacific Lounge at the airport and was quite full by then.

After my tray was taken away, the flight attendant came around with a tray of a variety of Haagen-Dazs ice creams.

The seat turned into a bed with a touch of a button. The width was comfortable enough but it was not as wide as the First Class seat.

We landed in HKIA right on time and I was at my next gate within minutes to catch my flight back to England. πŸ™‚

Always a pleasure to read about Cathay! Even on the short regional flights, CX is just heavenly!
