Review: The Grand Hyatt Erawan, Bangkok

The Grand Hyatt Erawan in Bangkok is situated right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Bangkok. It is close to the Chit Lom BTS station, which is 3 stops away from the Phaya Thai station where the Airport Rail Link train stops. The hotel is also close to the Central World and Siam Paragon shopping centres. It is right next to the Erawan Shrine, where unfortunately a bomb exploded in August last year killing 20 people and 125 injured.

I was picked up by the Grand Hyatt representative at the arrival hall at the airport. A car was waiting for me at the arrival area and took me straight to the hotel. The journey usually takes about 45mins from the airport to the hotel but it took us about 2 hours due to the heavy Bangkok traffic at 5pm.

Check in was easy and straight forward. The agent kindly escorted me to the room and we did the paper work in the room as I am a Hyatt Diamond member. The room was in the 18th floor, which is a floor up the Grand Club Lounge. Breakfast is provided in the lounge and it is open until 11pm every night.

The room

My room was a standard Grand Club room which was spacious with Thai touches. The bed was comfy and international power sockets were everywhere. The service was first class, I once rang for a suit dust cover from the customer service and within 5 minutes, someone was at the door with it! There was a coffee machine with a bowl of fruits. Toileteries were June Jacobs, as is Grand Hyatt standard.

I was a bit peckish so I went out to the Siam Paragon Mall to have a quick bite to eat. The mall was about 5 minutes walking distance away from the hotel using the elevated walkway that connects the hotel to the mall and the also the BTS station.

I managed to use the Grand Lounge for the evening drinks. The lounge offered a selection of food and drinks. The staff were attentive and the food was tasty.

I also managed to use the spa and the gym. All in all, I would not hesitate to stay at this hotel again the next time I am in Bangkok.
